CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EVIL LITERATURE COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIONS.

EAMON DE VALERA asked the Minister for Justice whether he can state when the proposals for legislation to give effect to the recommendations [326] of the Evil Literature Committee which have been promised, will be introduced.

MINISTER for JUSTICE (Mr. Fitzgerald-Kenney): I would refer the Deputy to the answer I gave on the 7th ultimo to Deputy Peadar Doyle, who, on that date, addressed to me a similar question. I hope to be in a position to introduce the Bill at an early date.

Mr. DE VALERA: Does the Minister not think that there is an urgent need to deal with this matter?

Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY: There is no unavoidable delay, but the Deputy will understand that this is not a very easy Bill to draft. It is very easy to draft a Bill dealing with the broad lines of the question, but there are niceties that require to be very carefully thought out.

Mr. DE VALERA: Am I to understand that the Bill is being prepared?

Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY: Yes. I think the Bill will be very shortly introduced.

Mr. CASSIDY: Will the Bill be introduced prior to the summer recess?

Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY: I hope so.
