Dáil Éireann - Volume 7 - 06 May, 1924

ORDER OF BUSINESS.

Mr. JOHNSON: May I ask the President what will be the course of business for to-day? We have a very long agenda, and there have been different versions as to the business to be taken. Can we now have some definite light on it?

AN CEANN COMHAIRLE: Items 1, 2, and 3 are formal, to keep the Dáil informed of the progress of Private Bills in the Seanad. Item 4 needs a motion of approval from the Dáil, which, if opposed, will stand over, but, if not opposed, will be taken at once. Items 5 and 6, giving the two messages from the Seanad, are put down in accordance with Standing Orders. They are [208] put down on the Order Paper in order that the Dáil may decide when they are to be considered. The other business is Government business.

Mr. ALFRED BYRNE: Can the President say when he hopes to take the Railway Bill?

AN CEANN COMHAIRLE: Perhaps the President can state what we are going to take to-day first?

The PRESIDENT: I propose to take Nos. 7, 8, 12, and then 9.

AN CEANN COMHAIRLE: When do you propose to take the Railway Bill?

The PRESIDENT: I do not hope to be able to take it sooner than Thursday.
